State health officials have levied a $25,000 administrative fine against a south Sacramento psychiatric hospital, the second in two months for substandard care that caused or could have caused serious injury or death to patients. In this case, a 55-year-old patient at Sierra Vista Hospital on Bruceville Road died.
The fine was one of 13 announced Wednesday against California hospitals for failing to comply with state licensing rules or causing harm or potential harm to patients.
